New chair in the hallway

Finally bought the chair HOLMSEL from Ikea, in black, for the hallway. The black and white pillow to sit on I had before. I think that one also was from Ikea.

It looks so much nicer with this chair here than the former one. It is also slightly smaller, which is good in my tiny hallway.

So what did I do with the previous chair?

After some moving around of the smallest Expedit bookcase into the livingroom, I got some space in the bedroom for the older chair from the hallway. I always wanted a chair in the bedroom but previously didn’t have the space for it.

I’ve had this chair for many years. It is Ikeas AGEN. The cover for the pillow is a DIY by me. The color of the chair goes so much better with the Malm chest of drawers (in oak veneer – nowadays can only be had in white stained oak veneer) beside it than with the furniture in the hallway. This chair was bought to stand beside it in my previous hallway in my previous flat. The black high pallet is just placed there temporarily. Or, when autumn and cold weather comes, it might get one of the now outside plants on it. Not enough light there though.

The old Macintosh there is the first model Intel iMac 20″. It is collecting dust in the bedroom and seldom on. Only there in case I would like to see a dvd in the bedroom or for the use of old software that cannot be used with today’s operating system.

White chests of drawers

When passing IKEA the other day I saw this really nice chest of drawers called NORDLI. (Unable to find it at the US Ikea site).

There are several models and sizes with different number of drawers of the NORDLI chest of drawers.

I love it. If I had the space for it, there is no doubt about it that I would get one, in a for me appropriate size. I like the flat front without any handles to get stuck in or hurt by, just the small opening instead of a handle. And in the above model I also like how they have combined the drawers to get a non-conform look of them. The price is also reasonable.

IKEA also has HEMNES, which is nice, but I prefer the look of the above NORDLI. A lot more to my taste.

Another Ikea classic is MALM, that comes in various models, sizes, number of drawers and colors or veneers but also in white (I have the three drawers in oak veneer, which isn’t available in the US, and two small ones with two drawers, also in oak veneer).

Another model of chest of drawers is SNÖ from Asplund that I really love. The price though is more than four times higher for this, as it usually is for designer products.

If I could afford it, SNOW from Asplund would be on my wishlist… but I think NORDLI from Ikea is almost as goodlooking.

There are of course several other white chests of drawers out there. I choose these ones.

Some re-organizing

This is my old Expedit bookcase. This is how it looked in 2011 and until last week. Except the lamp on it is long gone, it broke when it fell to the floor one day. The ficus plant is also gone – it died after the long winter we had last year – too little light.

Then last week I thought I’d do some reorganizing in the bedroom. And I put the old Expedit in another direction and moved it from under the window to beside the sliding door. Like this.

The chest of drawers (Malm from Ikea) – which previously was at the place where the Expedit is now move to – was moved to under the window instead.

The two smaller ones are supposed to be used as bedside tables but my present bedroom isn’t wide enough for that (the previous one was). Until now they have been one on top of the other, like a really high chest of drawers. Presently (temporarily) they are now beside each other again.

I will again put the smaller ones on top of each other, then move them to the right of the bigger chest of drawers, and add a small Expedit in shiny white to the left of it. It is almost the same height as the Malm 3-drawer chest . Just have to buy it first. I’ll do that today.

Then the flowers will come up a bit and get some more light over winter. The pallet to the left is already moved to another place.

The old iMac is for use of older software that won’t work in newer OS-versions, and for watching DVDs from bed.
