Nothing new under the sun…

I today read about the new collection from FERMLIVING in a few of the blogs I follow. One of the items that caught my eye were the saucers in the above and the below pictures.

I thought: wait a minute. Aren’t those very much alike the old saucers I have in my cupboard that I inherited from my parents/grandparents?

I also thought: What is new about these ones, this model? Haven’t we seen them before? Or at least very similar models? These cost €34 a piece and are not yet in stock at Fermliving.

The ones I inherited, see below, are often seen at stores that sell used goods, like the Salvation Army store for instance. Then at a price of about SEK25 a piece. I still have seven of them left. You might be able to get more of the same model at the Salvation Army store…

Nothing new under the sun, right?

Below are my old saucers. Not the same, but similar in model and look. Mine have a handle and are probably not dishwasher safe. We used them for deserts when I was little.

I have long intend to put this inherited dinnerware onto blocket.se and sell it to create more space in my kitchen cupboards. I am aware that these kind of things do not sell for enormous amounts of money, but … The dinnerwware is from the Hackefors factory and was made some time in the first half of the previous century. Highest bidder that comes and relieves me from it will get it. It is in very good condition. A few pieces are missing, but not many.

A beautiful Singer

I recently participated in a cleanup of a home together with two others. And there, among a lot of other stuff, was this dusty old Singer sewing machine.

What a beautiful machine!

I never lifted the cover, which I now regret as I have no idea how it looks inside. I did remove the other stuff around it and the dust though to be able to see how it actually looked. The intarsia both on the cover and the table is very nice.

We had a Singer sewing machine at home when I grew up. Mother had it converted to electrical. I later threw out the sewing machine part and used only the legs for a table. Later threw that out as well… But this one looks like an original. If it works? I have no idea.
