When the springflowers come, and they come fast, for a short time, and in abundance, then just enjoy. It is a beautiful season

After some hesitation, acceptance

cat, gustavA bit suspicious and confused he was when “his” sofa was no longer there. So he stayed on the table for a while. The chaiseloungue is temporarily placed at the same spot as the sofa used to be. It is not going to stay there, looks odd. And, when the light grey cover is on it is almost the same color as the wall and that is not good. I also have to reorganize the pictures on the walls after removing the sofa. But not until I’ve decided how to place the furniture and if and when I get a new sofa.

In the end Gustav the cat decided that the chaiseloungue was good enough for him and fell fast asleep there. All good and accepted.

Will he miss his sofa?

gustav, sofa

Gustav asleep on my sofa

Will Gustav miss my sofa? I am giving it away for free this Sunday to Jenny & Göran (neighbours). Have had the sofa out for sale on Blocket (Swedish equivalent to eBay) for 39 days. No luck. There are too many sofas there. All too cheap. Also, nowadays, you can get a real nice sofa cheaply. And then it is new. Not someones used one. So I gave up and decided I will give it away for free instead.

For a while there I considered the Salvation Army, as they come and pick up things like this (and then sell them in their shops). But then Jenny & Göran, who lives a couple of houses away, decided they would like to have it. Especially for free. So on Sunday we will transport it to its new home.

Will Gustav, my closest neighbors’ cat, miss “his” sofa? Remains to be seen.

6438467603This is a 3-seater, 195 cm long quality sofa. I’ve had it for 6 years and 4 months. It is grey (though it looks brownish in the pictures). There is nothing wrong with it except that it is too big for my living-room. It was bought for a longer room in my previous flat. The new sofa will be a 2-seater, 165 cm long. Will suit the room much better. And it will have exchange covers. More about that later.

Below the pictures I had out on Blocket, which generated zero interest.

Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair 2013

Befoer I left, I had a rest out in the light area by the entrance. Four hours at the fair made me tired.

Before I left, I had a rest out in the light area by the entrance. Four hours at the fair made me tired.

There are certain fairs I really like and wouldn’t want to miss. One of them is the Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair which returns in February every year. It is huge. It is a professional fair. And only one day is open to people like me, the public. I wouldn’t miss it for the world. The 2013 version I visited on February 9th. All my pictures from then can be found here.

That fair shows off the very best that Scandinavian furniture and light firms can show and is an indication of what is coming the coming year. Trends. Materials. Colors. Three full halls.

If I had the space and the money…

If I had the space and the money…

I love it as much every year. I will be there next year too. Meanwhile… all my pictures from the visit can be seen here.

Decorative dog

dachshund, tax

Boppie, my dachshund many years ago

I am a bit surprised that the dachshund has become so popular as an illustration for various interior design objects. Nowadays it appears on the most unbelievable objects. Like trays, pillows, posters, towels, wallpapers…

The poster with glasses and variations with rosettes and other things are very popular. More here.

OK, it IS a nice and goodlooking dog. But as a towel?image1_838a8dca3741ee9dc709fc0498e92d55

Or a tray?

image1_e9074a449391f920371a5c5c829f9b05Or like this, as a postcard?

PS. I prefer the real, live dog. It is an intelligent dog.

Will soon go out

20130214-132310.jpg

Just had to do this.

Just learned how to make screendumps with the iPhone. Was more simple than I thought. Just hold down Home-button (the big round one on the front of your iPhone) at the same time as the turn-off button at top of iPhone. Hear camera-sound and active screen is an image in your photoalbum.

In this case from the app Moves which counts how much you move every day. As you can see I didn’t move at all (or at least my iPhone didn’t) since 19:12 yesterday. Love that app.

Will move soon though. Have to go out to buy foods and such.

Butterfly chairs

butterlfy chair, fladdermusfotölj

It is odd with these items that return into fashion. Like the butterfly chair.

I had one when I was a teenager. It was yellow as far as I can remember. With black legs. Like this one.

Today you again see them everywhere in interior design magazines. Some claim it is comfortable to sit in… I disagree. What I remember it was really uncomfortable and hard to find any relaxed way to sit in. It was always a problem to find a way how to position your legs.

Today’s models often come in leather or hairy skins. Like the ones below. Makes them look more elegant, maybe. But I doubt they get more comfortable just because they no longer are made in galon. But they are expensive today. They were cheap then when I had one. No, I would NOT want one today. But I am fascinated by the fact that they came back in fashion again.

Colors

colors, colours

The above are – according to people who write blogs about interior design – the colors to use this spring in decorating. Personally I like stronger colors and am no fan of pastels. Pastels are seen everywhere presently though.

Different colors represent different feelings and creates different atmospheres.

Some colors you get from nature, like these below which are from Dead Sea salt formations.

RTR2UVL4

RTR2UVL2I think they are fantastic.

And then there are the nuances. “Blue” isn’t just “blue”. It is several shades of blue.

blues_600Blue is one of my favorite colors. But not the only one.
