Adobe InDesign – Easter Eggs

BACK TO TUTORIALS AND LINKS CONTENT

When the developers of an application wants to have some fun they put in "secret" features into the application. These use to be called Easter Eggs. In InDesign CS there are some that have been exchanged and made known on the mailinglists. If there are more than those I list below, email me and I will publish those as well.

THE FRIENDLY ALIEN

Define a print preset from the File menu > Print Presets> Define. Call it Friendly Alien (with capital F and A). Then go to File>Print and select your new print preset. Click on the page display in the print dialog...

Still works in InDesign CS2.

ABOUT INDESIGN

Bring up the About Indesign screen.

Type "bounce" (without the citations).

Watch the bouncing balls...

And here are two similar ones, provided by David Blatner, co-author of Real World Adobe Indesign CS, who writes:

Open the About InDesign dialog and type in "mandel" (introduced in v1)
Open the About InDesign dialog and type in "svg" (introduced in v2)

NOTE: Neither of these work in InDesign CS2.
