Some of these monasteries can only be reached by climbing on laborious paths, some today have a bridge built from a nearby cliff, others have steep stairs to climb to get up to the monastery. Some of the more popular and active monasteries have built a cablecar for transportation upto the monastery of both people and goods. The most isolated places had their goods brought up by baskets on a rope or in nets at regular intervals.
